Bassano. Data collection to improve KAYT and PAYT systems and to test other fields of use

Autumn of data collection and analysis for ETRA, lead partner of the Life REThinkWASTE!

The big data analysis activity has just started in cooperation with the supplier Datariver. The aim is to optimize the organization of collection areas for undifferentiated dry waste, saving resources and reducing the environmental impact of this activity.  To achieve this, ETRA’s staff worked to collect the necessary data such as the length of the collection rounds, the location of the users, the frequency of deliveries, the vehicles used, and information on the emptying of the bins. This work initially involves the integration of different databases and then the analysis can be continued.

For Bassano, data collection continues also on other fronts! In fact, thanks to the collaboration with the regional authorities involved in the project (ARPA Veneto, Assemblea Territoriale D’Ambito di Ancona, Agència de Residus de Catalunya), a model has been defined for the collection of data from the pilot areas (Bassano, Varese, Bitetto, Sant Just) in order to estimate their implementation’s cost for the PAYT/KAYT systems and even to make forecasts on larger areas than those of the experimentation.

These data are crucial because they will help the dissemination of the PAYT/KAYT model in other European municipalities! Together towards an even more sustainable waste management model!
