On March 22, Montse Bassa (waste manager at Sant Just Desvern City Council) and Montse Aulinas (Barcelona Regional technician) took part in the first Living Lab of BIOCIRCULARCITIES project.
Sant Just highlighted the importance of separate collection of biowaste with the new collection model that is being implemented in the municipality. It consists in the use of smart bins for the biowaste and residual waste fractions. In parallel, the implementation of KAYT (Know-as-you-throw) of LIFE RETHINKWASTE project in Sant Just, with the chatbot #coneixelquellences, takes special relevance to improve the separate collection (and especially of biowaste, in which special attention is being paid through communications and messages via the chatbot). A separate collection that must be of good quality and free from impurities to allow to get more value-added products.
